Lake Tahoe Revisited

Thirty six years have passed since I last visited this beautiful mountain lake. The population of California has climbed from 20 million to 36 million. The lake is littered with new houses. South Lake Tahoe is home to big casinos and hotels. But the mountains are still snow covered and majestic. The old low rise motor hotels are still in use. Now they seem to be home to workers serving the tourist and construction industry.

The ride over from Sacramento was 5 lanes for a while but necked down to 2 to 3 as we got into the Sierras. The mountains are formidable opponents to big wide roads. Good!!!!

It is on to Mono Lake tomorrow.
